PETALING JAYA: Petronas is set to enter the Indian motor racing scene after securing an agreement with TVS Motor Company, a reputable manufacturer of two and three wheelers, to become the title partner of TVS Racing, the premier team of factory run in India.
Renamed Petronas TVS Racing Team, the outfit will don a new livery as part of the effective alliance this season.
Petronas is also set to supply its high performance engine oil, Petronas Sprinta, to the team which will compete in road racing, supercross and rally formats including the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC), Indian National Supercross Championship. (INSC) and the Indian National Rally Championship (INRC).
TVS Racing, a pioneer in motorsport building in India since 1982, has played a vital role in the growth of racing performance culture.
The partnership will further boost the popularity of racing in India.
Executive Vice President and CEO Downstream of Petronas Datuk Sazali Hamzah said his organization continues to move up the value chain in India.
“Examples of significant portfolio improvements include the supply of LPG through IndianOil Petronas Pvt. ltd. (IPPL), supply of rooftop solar panels through AmPlus Energy and today we have sealed a stronger partnership with one of India’s most respected OEMs, TVS Motor Company, with the launch of the team Petronas TVS Racing Team,” he said.
TVS Motor Company CEO KN Radhakrishnan said he was delighted to have Petronas as a partner for TVS Racing.
